Genesis 4:1-8a
1And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. 2And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. 4And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: 5But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

6And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 7If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
8aAnd Cain talked with Abel his brother:
The story starts with the birth of two brothers, Cain and Abel. Cain is tilling up the ground and growing crops just like Adam told him to do. Those are the last words Adam and Eve hear as God kicked them out of the Garden of Eden.
-Cain is turning the stoney ground into life giving food by tilling the ground.
-Abel is tending sheep, not doing God’s last instructions.

Abel’s offering is accepted by God and then Cain’s is not. God then speaks to Cain to get him to look at Abel’s offering because that is what He wants.

NOTE: NO SIN YET!

This part of the story ends with the two brothers talking!

John 1:40-41
40One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
After a first brother (Andrew) follows Jesus, he travels to talk with the second brother (Simon- will be Peter).

This part of the story ends with the two brothers talking!

Common
In each case, one brother “finds” the truth of God and then the two brothers talk after the “find”.
Opposite
In one case, the talk is initiated by the “lost” brother, and in the other case, the talk is initiated by the “found” brother.

Revelation 1:9a
9aI John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos,
In Malachi and John, one brother had the revelation of God “first”, and then had to show/tell his brother that God is now standing before man again.
In Revelation, one brother (John) has the revelation of God “first”, and he is calling you (the reader) his brother. He is and will be telling you how God is standing for man again waiting for you to choose, will you be Cain or Peter?

 #2 of 2 (Cain/Abe) ****  #10 of 80 (Overall)

Genesis 4:8b-12
After the talk, one brother kills and talks with God. He will have a “harder time” working the ground, Cain’s punishment.

John 1:42

Revelation 1:9b Common Thread Between John/Malachi and Revelation
Genesis 4:8b-12
8band it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
9And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper? 10And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.
11And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand;
12When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
After the talk
The “lost” brother kills the “found” brother so he can’t bring him to God in the future.

God speaks to the “lost” brother about what he has done to his “found” brother and then God tells him the ground will not produce like it did before, think of hard “stoney” ground.

John 1:42
42And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.
After the talk
The “found” brother brings the “no knowledge” brother to Jesus.

Jesus speaks to the second brother and changes his name to -stone-, think of really hard ground, ground that makes it very hard to grow crops. Both brothers then follow Jesus.

God “expects” to talk with both brothers together but can’t in one case.

Hard ground commonality
Name changed to “a stone” in one case as a “reward” and then in the other case, a punishment is put in place that will make it “harder” to till the ground and produce food.

Revelation 1:9b
9bfor the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
In Malachi and John, the “second” brother’s life testimony (or choice) is recorded (one kills, one believes). The Word of God is given to each “second” brother based on their choice.
In Revelation, the first brother is letting you (the reader) know he has both a testimony of Jesus and the word of God. What will be your choice after this first brother takes you to see God standing before you?
