Exodus/John
#1 Innocence |
10And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord,
12After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days. 13And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
Getting ready for Passover.
#2 Self Awareness |
I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
14And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: 15And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; 16And said unto them that sold doves,
Moses can’t set free but Jesus sets free.
#3 Government |
11And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?
Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.
The Lord tells of His power over man’s house (his body). Jesus shows His power in God’s house (the temple).
#4 Promise |
God tells Moses that he will “know/remember” what to say in the future.
17And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
Past and future “knowing.” One will know in the future and one remembers something foretold in the past. Repeats in 6 below.
#5 Law |
13And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send. 14And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart. 15And thou shalt speak unto him,
18Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign showest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? 19Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. 20Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21But he spake of the temple of his body.
Future told, Aaron coming and temple will be raised up. Aaron was the first High Priest in the tabernacle/temple.
#6 Grace -in- |
and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.
22When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
Similar to 4 above, past and future knowing.
#7 God’s Rule |
16And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God. 17And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.
18And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.
23Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. 24But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, 25And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
Both talking about someone “being or recognizing” God.
