John 10:11-15
11I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

12But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. 13The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

14I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

15As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father:

and I lay down my life for the sheep.

There is a hireling that is taking care of the someone else’s sheep. But the hireling is scared of the wolves that come and the hireling leaves the sheep to the wolves.

The hireling flees the scene because he doesn’t care for the sheep.

Jesus is the good shepherd, He knows His sheep and is know by His own sheep.

The Father knows Jesus and Jesus knows the Father.

Jesus lays His life down for the sheep.
John 19:7-18
7The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God. 8When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid; 9And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.
10Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?

11Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin. 12And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar’s friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar. 13When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. 14And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! 15But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
16Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away. 17And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: 18Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
Pilate is the authority over the Jews and Jesus in particular.

Jesus tells Pilate that God has given him temporary power of Jesus.

Pilate wants to let Jesus go one more time.

The Jewish leaders tell Pilate that they will tell Caesar if he lets Jesus go.

Pilate takes Jesus out to the Jews and calls Him their King.

The Jews say, “Away with Him, crucify him.”

Caesar is their King.

Pilate finally gives Jesus over to the Jews to be crucified and Jesus is led away.

Jesus is crucified along with two others.

God has “hired” the Romans (Pilate) to watch over Jesus and protect Him.

Pilate (the hireling) sees that the Jews (the wolf) will “tell on him” to Caesar if he lets Jesus go.

Pilate (the hireling) calls Jesus King but the Jews, but the Jews (the wolf) tell Pilate to kill Jesus.

Pilate is scared, “flees”, and releases Jesus to be killed just as the Jews want.

Jesus is on the cross and willing to lay His life down.
