Genesis 4:1-8a
1And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. 2And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. 4And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: 5But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

6And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 7If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
8aAnd Cain talked with Abel his brother:
The story starts with the birth of two brothers, Cain and Abel. Cain is tilling up the ground and growing crops just like Adam told him to do. Those are the last words Adam and Eve hear as God kicked them out of the Garden of Eden.
-Cain is turning the stoney ground into life giving food by tilling the ground.
-Abel is tending sheep, not doing God’s last instructions.

Abel’s offering is accepted by God and then Cain’s is not. God then speaks to Cain to get him to look at Abel’s offering because that is what He wants.

NOTE: NO SIN YET!

This part of the story ends with the two brothers talking!

John 1:40-41
40One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

After a first brother (Andrew) follows Jesus, he travels to talk with the second brother (Simon- will be Peter).

This part of the story ends with the two brothers talking!

Common
In each case, one brother “finds” the truth of God and then the two brothers talk after the “find”.
Opposite
In one case, the talk is initiated by the “lost” brother, and in the other case, the talk is initiated by the “found” brother.
