5bbefore the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

 Malachi prophesied the Lord would return and it would be a dreadful day.

John 1:10-11
10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

Jesus came to his people but they rejected Him. It was a dreadful day when the Lord returned as a man speaking man just like the people chose the last time. The Lord was rejected and killed.
